mockupwThe world of “drones” is constantly changing and we have made a strong effort to keep our eBook customers updated on those changes, from hobby registration to the new Part §107, but we were alarmed to discover that Amazon was not doing their part. We repeatedly complained to Amazon that their “automatic update” feature is not working and many who purchased our drone ebooks were not seeing the updated material, which was reflected in several negative reviews.

We finally got Amazon to admit to the problem, and received this response:

We’ve sent an e-mail to customers who own the book to notify them of the update. These customers can download the update through their “Manage Your Content and Devices” page.

Customers who download eBooks through Kindle Unlimited will receive the updated content as long as they haven’t returned the Kindle Unlimited borrow before the content update is initiated.

At this time, customers who download eBooks through Kindle Owners’ Lending Library don’t receive updated content. Our technical team is working on improving this process.

As a result of our persistent effort, those of you who purchased those ebooks but were not receiving the revisions and updates may have received this notice from Amzaon:

Although you turned on the Automatic Book Update feature on Manage Your Content and Devices, we were unable to automatically deliver an updated version of your past Kindle purchase of UAS Operations: Ground School Study Guide: Remote Pilot Certificaiton Study Guide by Tim Trott for the following reason(s):

  • This book has undergone significant changes, so any bookmarks, notes, or highlights you’ve made will not transfer over to the new version of the book.

The updated version contains the following changes:

  • Improved formatting for readability.
  • Significant editorial changes have been made.

You can get the updated version of this book by going to Manage Your Content and Devices. Find the book under Your Content tab, click on the “Update Available” button next to the book’s title, and then follow the update prompts. All your devices that have the eBook currently downloaded will be updated automatically the next time they connect to wireless.

The dgbook-templateDroner’s Guide ebook has also been totally revised and updated.

The current revision of Droner’s Guide, listed in the Copyright page, is 33A (November 15, 2016). The current revision for UAS Operations Study Guide is 8-B, dated November 13, 2016.

If your purchased e-books do not match the cover pictures and revision editions shown, we recommend that you call Amazon customer service (located in Cape Town, South Africa) and request assistance.
