Deter, Detect and Investigate: That’s the scope of Law Enforcement Agency Response, to Drone Complaints:

This class will review the relationship between local law enforcement and the Federal Aviation Administration, local laws and accident reporting. What will change with Remote ID? What is Remote ID?

UAS (or Drone) complaints have added another dimensions to law enforcement. This course will focus on local response to drone complaints and incidents involving unmanned aircraft. What is the role of local law enforcement? Whee is the line between local and federal jurisdiction? What are the requirements and limitations? What are the legal and jurisdictional issues to consider? What is the FAA’s roll in local incidents involving “drones”?

This course will define what is expected of local law enforcement and help to clear up the confusion.

INTRODUCTION PREVIEW:

This course incorporates FAA Advisory Circulars, rules and resources designed to assist local law enforcement with response and investigation of incidents, accidents and complaints relating to unmanned aircraft.

The course is designed to aid the field officer with background knowledge of applicable rules and regulations and the appropriate actions necessary to provide the FAA and NTSB with relevant information for those agencies to conduct further investigation where warranted and to pursue any indicated prosecution on the Federal level, including fines and license forfeiture where indicated.
